I get coffee at Loof most mornings after I drop my kids at school because they make the best coffee in Joburg, have the friendliest staff and the most delicious food. I took my son there for the first time today and he fell in love with all the lady staff, and they were amazing with him!

I had a tasty iced latte and a delicious grilled cheese. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. They let you sit there and work on their wifi for free without trying to hurry you up to leave.
The coffee is good, the place itself is a bit ramshackle. I don’t mind it, but if you want somewhere very slick, this isn’t the place. I did prefer the old venue across the road, but this isn’t bad.
Coffee is still great but the food is nothing special: they had tasty and interesting dishes when they were in the old location across the road but now it's just average.
Update: the change in venue has really not been good for Loof. Unfortunately I have to review my original review. (Keeping the original at bottom) Too quiet, not clean, no atmosphere. Space is not inviting at all. Good coffee. Lovely barrista. Order at the right of the counter upon entry and collect on the left. (A tad weird if you are sitting down). Ask for a mug to prevent all the paper wastage. Need a vegan option but has a couple of vegetarian options.

Excellent coffee. Great vibe inside... Rustic and relaxed. Enjoyed the Mediterranean poached eggs with tomatoes... Think it was called the Shakshouka. Great atmosphere and crowd. Very friendly staff especially at the counter that helped us order with great recommendations and service. Description Shakshouka is a Maghrebi dish of eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, olive oil, peppers, onion and garlic, commonly spiced with cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper.
